Synopsis
Mists Rising is an atmospheric instrumental album exploring imagination, storytelling and emotional reflection through a series of cinematic musical landscapes. Drawing inspiration from literature, philosophy, nature, science fiction and personal experience, each composition presents a distinct world while contributing to a cohesive journey of discovery and interpretation. Rather than following a single narrative, the album invites listeners to create their own stories through melody, harmony and atmosphere. From the solitude of Time Alone and the exotic imagery of Desert Dreaming to the philosophical reflections of Bridge Over Forever and the emotional centrepiece of Mists Rising, each track explores a unique perspective while maintaining a strong sense of identity and continuity. Combining expressive guitar performance, synthesised textures and immersive instrumental arrangements, Mists Rising represents an early exploration of the cinematic and conceptual ideas that would later become defining characteristics of the Sound Intent project.

Production Notes
All compositions, arrangements, performances, recording, sound design, mixing and production were undertaken by Jools under the Sound Intent project. The albums were developed within a home studio environment using a combination of digital recording technologies, software instruments, sound design techniques and electric guitar performance. While each project explores its own musical identity, a common production philosophy runs throughout the catalogue; blending cinematic atmospheres, expressive melodic content and immersive electronic textures to create emotionally driven listening experiences. Sound design plays a significant role across the releases, helping to establish the narrative, mood and character of each album. Mists Rising was developed as a collection of instrumental compositions inspired by visual imagery, personal experiences and narrative concepts. Each track was designed to evoke a specific atmosphere or emotional response, allowing listeners to form their own interpretations without the need for lyrics or explicit storytelling. The album also represents an important formative stage in the development of the Sound Intent project, establishing many of the cinematic and conceptual approaches that would continue throughout later releases. Particular emphasis was placed on melody as a storytelling device, with recurring use of thematic development, modal harmony and expressive instrumental performance to create distinct musical identities for each composition. The album was mastered by Frank Kimberley, providing an external perspective during the final production stage. This would become one of only two Sound Intent releases to receive third-party mastering before future projects were mastered in-house.
